After my last blog, I was feeling a little down in the dumps. It was Sunday morning and I went out to feed the horses. They were in their stalls waiting patiently for me to get their hay. I went to get their hay, and when I rolled the hay bale over, I was startled to find a cat lying there.
I had seen her around the farm before, and she had always been friendly, but I hadn't see her for quite a few months. She appeared to be just as startled as I was. When I got my bearings, I noticed that she had four little furry things attached to her!
I wasn't sure how protective she was, but when she started purring, I figured it was okay to pick them up, as it would have taken every ounce of self-restraint I had not to hold one!
As I picked them up one by one, everything became okay with me. I wasn't scared anymore and became extremely aware of being right there, right then, just enjoying the moment. After all, that's what its all about, right?
The little kitties are definitely not the shiniest tools in the shed, but adorable none-the-less.
Since then, I have visited them every day, 2-3 times a day! Mama cat (I call her Zippy - short for Zippy Pinhead) is always happy to see me as I bring her food and water. But technically, she's not my cat (wink, wink).
On another note, there has been another kitten that must have been left behind when I moved in. I named her "Stray". The horses have been her best friends, as until recently, she has never gotten within 20 feet of me. Amazingly enough, she let me pick her up the other day and now she comes when she hears me coming to feed the horses.
I don't know what I'd do without my critters. I do love them so. :-)
