I continue to administer antibiotics, bute, and change Cowboy's dressing. The vet said that the wound would look worse before it got better. Although there doesn't seem to be signs of infection setting in, I'm concerned that the gaping laceration is not closing. (The picture above doesn't really depict the severity of the wound)
I have Cowboy confined in his stall as I don't want him running or walking around too much. The first day I changed his dressing, I decided to give him some "free" time and let him graze. Ki decided to be a brat and prompted him to come running to her. He was favoring pretty bad and skipping as he tried to run to her. So that was the end of his free time. He really hates being in the stall.
Being that today is Labor Day, I won't be able to contact the vet until tomorrow.
