Cowboy gets a pedicure and a good talkin' to....

The horses have managed to get this far into the winter without having their hooves trimmed. With the temps rising a bit this week, I had the farrier come out and do some maintenance.

Zac (the farrier) always does Cowboy's feet first, as Cowboy always wants to help and is fidgety. Zac shows a lot of patience towards Cowboy, but never refers to him by his name, instead he refers to him as "Black Horse". Every time he calls Cowboy this, Cowboy gets this perplexed look on his face. He constantly tries to lick Zac on the butt or take his hat, none of which Zac takes lightly.
So as you can see from the pictures, I had to give Cowboy a good talking to so he would stand still and stop trying to "help"!
Ki, on the other hand, is an absolute doll about getting her feet trimmed and loves it when Zac files them. The only problem she causes is when she falls asleep and starts leaning on us!
Once finished, Cowboy and Ki returned to their corral to fill their oats and enjoy the warmer weather. Hopefully they will both get some much needed exercise as Cowboy for one is quite the rolly-polly!
